A lot of sparrows died in prison while being indefinitely detained without charges.

In certain, relatively unpopulated, parts of the world, various species of eagle have begun to industrialize. They've sought a work force in smaller flighted birds. Famously skeptical of such schemes, the flighted birds cried fowl, that the thick industrial smoke would ruin the very air through which they flew. "Actually," the eagles retorted, "it will make the air thicker, more dense, and it will be easier to fly!" Though really the birds had little choice- the smoke was on its way, and they needed wages with which to purchase the tiny bird-sized gas masks they would need to survive.

And so they worked to pay to be able to continue doing what they once did by the grace of nature.

Flightless birds faired better for a little while, but it wasn't long until the rain brough the smoke to the earth and water. Soon enough, it seemed the Dodo was the luckiest bird of them all.
